Bought this from Home Depot in March 2018. After about a year the plastic under the door had started to crack and chip away. I checked warranty and found out I had just missed it by the time I went online to inquire. I then applied some super glue to try to hold it together since I would hope a microwave would last more than a year. Then about a year and a half later the microwave started experiencing another issue where Id start the microwave but then only the timer kicks on and counts down...nothing else so the food just sits in there with nothing happening. We eventually figured out if we opened and closed the door hard then it would work or maybe work after 5 or so tries. Of course the door is already very fragile with plastic pieces cracking off so this probably not the best solution either. Then there was the occasional once every 6 month crash where all the electronics would start going haywire flashing odd error codes on the screen. Unplugging and then plugging back in usually solved that issue. We dealt with these issues for at least 4 of the 5 years we had the microwave and finally decided it has been enough and are now kicking it to the curb. It is sad since it appeared be a very nice model but unfortunately does not last. I would have expected to get more than just 5 years out of it.

Cracked vent face

We purchased this unit as part of a kitchen suite in our newly built home. The unit functions well and the extension feature on the vent hood is a nice feature. However about a month ago the plastic face covering the front of the extending hood cracked. We contacted the appliance dealer and were told the unit was out of warranty. We moved into our home late in 2019. Now we are expected to pay to repair a plastic piece with a prominent defect after only 3 years? Unacceptable. We have several LG products throughout our home. This is enough to turn us off this brand.

Over range microwave/exhaust fan

The service was impeccable. The gentleman came in diagnosed the issue. There was no problem with the unit. The problem was mud dobbers had fallen between the fan and motor causing the fan to hit them.

broke immediately-but LG fixed it

Unfortunately we got a lemon. It stopped heating within a week of being installed which wasnt great since we were setting up a kitchen and did not have an oven or stove top. LG was good about getting it serviced...sort of. They have an interesting system. They send a technician to look at it. I guess they dont believe you that it is broken once they look at it they pick what they think it must be. They order a part and come back in a week. They try to fix it. If that is not the problem they pick another possible solution and wait another week and try again. For us it took 4 tries and for us that meant 5 visits and 7 weeks. It would have made a lot more sense if the technician had the authority to try many fixes at one time but that is LG policy. It is now fixed and has been fine since then. We bought it for the extend a vent. We only used that once and then it got a huge crack in it it is plastic. Again LG did fix it. However even though we sent the technician a picture of the cracked vent hood he still had to physically come and look at it before he could order a new vent so that took 2 weeks not a big deal as it did not affect anything. I would probably not buy the extendavent again purely because we dont use it as much as we thought we would.

This model was definitely not my first choice but the one I wanted was out of stock everywhere and our microwave had died. The microwave is huge. I was not a fan of the rack so that came out on day 1. With the buttons being on the glass/window section of the door there are constantly fingerprints and smudges to clean. That being said the overall design does look very nice in our kitchen.

I am very disappointed that an LG appliance such as this would die after 28 months. My kitchen suite will now have a different microwave since this LG microwave died so soon and which I will have to replace out of pocket.

Love the extension hood

I always have issue with the steam fogging up the microwave but this extension features not only help to better remove steam it helps prevent steam going onto the microwave face. Only issue is there are no short cut button to timing have to press the full 100 for 1 min

Display never worked and has failed

We had this installed in April 2021 and we thought it worked well - the extension is great though I wanted a stronger fan - until mid-November 2022 when the digital display went out. It started with 4 orange lines for a minute then for 3 weeks had a display of green 88:88 with a green fan we never saw the fan symbol while we used the microwave for 1.5 years. We were able to keep using it because we knew the commands. My husband looked into getting it fixed and the cost was half the price of the appliance. On December 3 2022 the orange lines came back and after using the microwave a few times in about 10 minutes the orange lines seemed to disconnect. They looked unsafe and luckily the outlet where its plugged in is easily accessible so we could unplug it. It is unacceptable that this appliance only lasted two years manufactured date was Nov 2020. We are replacing with a different brand standalone microwave and separate hood to prevent loss of both in case one fails again. The hood and fan and microwave are working fine but the electrical issue within the door display could be a fire hazard issue and we dont feel safe leaving it plugged in.

I love the Extendavent

I already had an LG Over the Range Extendavent microwave oven. Had it for 5 years and Absolutely love that Extendavent feature but the magnetron died. Even though it was covered with a 10-year warranty I also had to have a new door latch assembly. That part and the labor cost to fix would amount to nearly the cost of a new one. So LG had the same model on sale so I replaced mine with a new one.

We built a home and furnished it with all LG appliances. We are so impressed with the quality of our appliances. Our over-the-range microwave has been a key appliance as we use it multiple times each day. From cooking cereal for breakfast to reheating lunch items to preparing vegetables to cooking dinner meals to heating water for tea in the evening our microwave never fails us. This baby is big and strong. Has two shelves so you can heat multiple dishes at once. Also has a pull out fan to be able to vent ALL the burners on the stove below. So COOL Im loving the features such as warming dinner plates popcorn and defrosting stuff. I am short so I cant see inside as it heats so I have to check by opening the door it is installed above my stove. Overall great microwave

This microwave always looks dirty clean fingers leave greasy looking fingerprints Beware Easy cleanonly refers to the inside. Specs listed set as fingerprint resistant . Already had to replace the control panel due to error code that malfunctioned and froze on screen. The only good thing is the extended vent and size.

Ive been very happy with the preset settings for reheating foods. Had one spill and cleanup was easy. The extendable vent works great over the range grabbing all the smoke and vapors. Looks nice and substantial. Changeable carbon filter seems a bit difficult to get to and installers were not aware that you could change it. My only concern is poor visibility of the contents inside while it is heating. It is very dark and so youd need to be pretty tall to see the contents with the small amount of light.

Beautiful appliance - workmanship ???

I bought this microwave because it was beautiful and frankly it was extremely quiet. It worked well for about two weeks and I had my mother stand next to it while it was running one time and she couldnt even hear it. Then That all changed. For the next four weeks it made quite a bit of noise and for the last three weeks you cannot hear my television when the microwave is running. Ive had a repairman out already and hes coming back to replace the motor and the fan in another week. Im trying to be hopeful but for the price of this appliance I expected more. I bought 4 of the most expensive kitchen appliances LG makes a washer and dryer and a TV and I guess I should feel blessed that this is the only issue thus far.

This is an excellent quality microwave. It is sturdily built and very attractive. The controls are easily visible and easy to use. It has a expandable vent fan with numerous speed as well as adjustable lighting. It is a top of the line microwave and pricy but it is well worth the money. Over range lighting

Replaced an older identical LG extend-a-vent with the new version. The old version had halogen lighting which was warm. This new version has a very cold blue LED that makes food look very unappetizing. With all the color options for LEDs LG could have selected a better neutral LED of this. A color tune-able LED would be a great feature. Looking to return the microwave because of this.

this is our second LG microwave it lasted 7years. we bought our second LG microwave october 2021. in may 2022 it started roaring very loud. they replaced transformer and the magnetron. not even 2 months later its roaring again. we have called service on it again. We will not buy an LG appliance again. my sister has all LG APPLIANCES 3 YEARS OLD THEY ARE GOING BAD

Ill preface this with the fact that I love to cook from scratch and am not typically a huge microwave user. That being said there are features of this microwave that outperform any previous microwave I have owned and some that are now welcome additions to my cooking routine. You cant beat the extended vent hood. Wonderful power and does its job extremely well. On this installation I have it self-venting and the inclusion of the charcoal filter is a wonderful plus. Clean up of the inside of the microwave is also much easier than in previous ones I have owned. I love some of the various preparation features this microwave has as well. They actually perform like one has always wanted but never experienced in the past. The Melt Soften and Defrost functions with their pre-programmed food types are genius. I took a fully frozen loaf of a good crusty French bread and defrosted it utilizing the Bread defrost setting and ended up with a not hot still crusty exterior fully defrosted interior loaf -- just as if I had left it out on the counter for a couple of hours to defrost on its own. Not something I was ever able to do with a microwave in the past. On the poultry setting the chicken defrosts properly and doesnt start to cook. The reheat by option is also stellar compared to other microwaves. My cooking in this microwave has been limited to steaming some vegetables heating a cup of tea and crisping up pre-cooked bacon all of which were as good if not better than previous microwaves I have owned. Overall this oven has substantial power and offers the kind of options that a microwave is best suited for -- and they work I dont think that there is a better one on the market at any price and Ive owned the gamut of them.

Its very easy to use and clean. I absolutely love the extenda-vent. The only downfall for me is that the inside is a dark gray which doesnt reflect the inside light as well as my old one that had a white inside. It doesnt seem to be an LCD light inside either so its very dim and difficult to see inside even with the ight on.
